2019 Tourism and Recreation All Stars

Three business groups in Shelby County are collaborating to recognize those entities in the tourism and recreation business sector who excel each and every day in making Shelby County a more attractive destination for tourists and visitors.  The Chelsea Business Alliance, Montevallo Chamber of Commerce and The Shelby County Chamber are accepting nominations for their joint Tourism and Recreation All Star Awards program in three categories – Lodging, Restaurant and Attractions / Recreation”.  In addition, a “Rising Star” category is also in place to recognize an organization that has truly distinguished itself in its “first year”.  Completed nomination packets in all categories are due to The Shelby County Chamber by no later than September 6 by 5:00PM.

“Tourism and recreation are a vital part of our economy here in Shelby County. Recognizing their efforts is something our Chamber has wanted to do for a long time.” Barbara Zieba with the Hampton Inn & Suites 280 – Eagle Point and 2019 Chair of The Shelby County Chamber’s Tourism & Recreation Work Group stated.  “We think this is a positive way to recognize the individuals and organizations that make Montevallo attractive to tourists and visitors.” Steve Gilbert, Executive Director of the Montevallo Chamber added.  “These businesses are working every day to help make Chelsea an attractive place to visit.  We look forward to celebrating their efforts with this program.” Diane Thomas with PostNet of Chelsea, and the Chelsea Business Alliance’s current President concluded.

The 2019 recipients will be announced at the Shelby County Tourism & Recreation All Star Awards’ Luncheon scheduled for Thursday, October 3 in Columbiana.  Nomination packets are available on-line by clicking here, or by contacting The Shelby County Chamber by phone at 663-4542, or via e-mail at info@shelbyhamber.org .
